Chris Reichhelm

Chris is the founder and CEO of Deep Tech Leaders. He has been advising and recruiting for science, technology and engineering companies for more than 25-years, focused on appointing boards and executive teams. Over the past 10-years, he was worked with more than 80 Deep Tech start-ups & scale-ups across the Industrial, Life Science and advanced Computing domains, helping them along their Lab to Market journeys. He works extensively with leading investors and regularly advises institutions and universities on leadership within Deep Tech businesses.

Chris is also the founder & CEO of Deep Tech Jobs, an online job platform that aims to connect the world’s leading scientists and engineers with the most deeply technical science and engineering jobs.

Early in his career, Chris worked for Heidrick & Struggles. He later helped establish two London-based, technology-focused executive search firms. In 2011, he founded Peloton – now Deep Tech Leaders.

American by background, Chris has degrees in English Literature and Theatre Studies. He is married to Jane, has 4 children and a chihuahua named Coco.

John Kelly

John leads projects for Deep Tech Leaders and advises clients on board and executive appointments across the Industrial, Life Science and Computing domains. Recently, he has worked across Digital Biology, Additive Manufacturing, Medical Diagnostics and Energy Storage.

He is a strategic HR, organisation and recruitment leader for advanced technology organisations. He has supported start-ups, scale-ups and mature businesses in organisational design, culture, performance and recruitment.

For 10-years, John worked with a leading mobile services group, eventually as COO, where he led the scaling of the organisation from 50 – 1000, and established offices around the world. More recently, he has supported tech start-ups & Medical groups as Global Head of HR.

John has a degree in Public Policy Administration and has completed extensive course work at Harvard Business School and the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He lives in south-west London with his wife, Paula, and their dog, Peggy.

Joe Mallinder

Joe leads projects for Deep Tech Leaders and advises clients on executive appointments across the Life Science and Industrial technology sectors. He has recently led searches for companies developing IVD and molecular diagnostics, lab automation, plant stimulation, nuclear fusion, advanced manufacturing, energy storage and performance chemistry.

Earlier in his career, he focused on the recruitment of leaders within cyber security organisations, working both for vendors and end-users.

Joe has a Master’s in International Politics and Intelligence Studies. He lives in east London with his girlfriend, Tasha and their cat, Toulouse.

Laura Rae

Laura leads Content, Community & Events for Deep Tech Leaders. She guides the company’s ‘Lab to Market’ programmes that seek to educate the Deep Tech community on the skills, experience and qualities required of leaders at different stages of a Deep Tech company’s development.

Laura’s experience includes building networks and delivering content to the pharma, biotech, healthcare, academic and investment communities. She developed the largest genomic conference in the UK, and 2nd largest in Europe. She also led the re-launch of Women in Advanced Therapies, a networking, education and mentorship initiative for women working in the cell and gene therapy industry.

Laura has a degree in Medical Neuroscience. She lives in south-west London with her partner and their dog, Tulle.

Ellie Orbell

Ellie develops and manages operations and systems for Deep Tech Leaders, and oversees all logistics and support for executive search projects.

She is also Programme Lead for Deep Tech Jobs, an online job platform that aims to connect the world’s leading scientists and engineers with the most deeply technical science and engineering jobs.

Ellie joined Peloton – now Deep Tech Leaders – in 2019 after a career in teaching, which included serving as head of department for the Milestone Academy, a leading special needs school in Kent.

Ellie possesses a 1st in English Literature and a Master’s in Education. She lives in south London and has no pets.

Jez Bhatti

Jez leads finance and legal for Deep Tech Leaders. He has worked with the team since 2015 and is a director of the company.

For the past 15-years, Jez has worked with small and mid-sized owner-led businesses throughout London, supporting their growth and advising on finance and exit strategies. He is also the chair and co-founder of the London Whisky Club.

Jez is a chartered accountant who lives in Surrey with his wife, Bian, and their 2 boys.
